Millionsofyouherecentlygraduatedorwillgraduateoverthenextfewweeks.Manyofyouareprobablyfeelingquiteproud—you’ve2)landedyourfirstjob,discussionsaroundsalariesandjobtitlesareover,andyou’rereadytocontribute.

Lifeisgood—exceptthatit’snot.Notforus,youremployers,atleast.Mostofyourcontributionswillbe3)substandardandlackambition,frustratingandoflimitedproductivity.Weare4)gearingourselvesupforbrokenpromisesandunmetexpectations.Sorrytobethemessengerofbadnews.

5.Youareprofessionalandethical:Everyonelovestobeconsideredaprofessional.Butwhenyouexhibitbehiorlike24)job-hoppingeveryyear,demanding25)double-digitpayincreaseornoincreaseinability,acceptingjoboffersandnotappearingonthefirstday,takingonepany’sofferlettertoshoparoundtoanotherpanyformoremoney—well,don’texpecttobetreatedlikeaprofessional.

Similarly,stretchingyourselftoworklongerhourswhenneeded,feeling26)vestedinthesuccessofyouremployer,beingethicalaboutexpenseclaimsandleesandvacationtimeareallpartofbeinga27)consummateprofessional.Suchbehiorisnot28)ingrainedinnewgraduates,wehefound,andhastobedeveloped.

Sowhatcanweconclude,younggraduatesMymessageisacalltoaction:Beawareofthesefiveattributes,don’texpectthe29)grytraintorunforever,anddon’tassumeyoureducationwilltakecareofyou.Rather,investinyourself—inlanguageskills,inthirstforknowledge,intrueprofessionaliand,finally,inthinkingcreativelyandnonhierarchically.Thiswill30)holdyouingoodsteadinourknowledgeeconomyandhelplayastrongfoundationforthenextproductivegenerationthatfollowsyou.

5.专业并且有职业道德：每个人都希望被当作专业人士看待.但是当你有如下行为表现时：每年跳槽；要求有两位数的工资增长,但是能力方面毫无提高；接受工作机会但第一天却不出现；拿着一家公司的录用通知书到另外一家公司显摆索要更高薪酬——那么,别期望别人会把你视作专业人士.

相同地,在需要的时候加加班,认同你雇主的成功,在费用报销、请检测、度检测方面讲诚信道德,这些全部都是完美的专业人士的表现.我们发现,这样的行为并未植根在新毕业生的身上,需要加以培养.

那么我们可以得出什么结论呢,年轻的毕业生们?我的这些建议是在呼吁采取行动：认识这五个特性,不要期望可以永远轻松赚大钱,不要以为学历就能一辈子罩住自己.取而代之的是,应该投资在自己身上——学习语言技巧,渴求知识,打造真正的专业性,最后,学会创造性、平等地去思考.这会使你在我们的知识经济中站稳脚步,并且帮助紧随你们之后的下一代的生产力打下牢固的基础.
